Job summary

CesiumAstro seeks an Associate Mechanical Engineering Manager in Westminster, CO to lead a team of mechanical engineers supporting airborne, maritime, and ground-based phased array systems. You will mentor engineers, drive resource planning, improve processes, and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery while contributing technically in ruggedized packaging and mechanical design.

You will partner with PMs, Systems, RF, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to meet technical, cost, and schedule goals,

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 4–7 years in design/analysis of aerospace/defense/ruggedized electronics.
• At least 1 year in leadership or management roles.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate engineers.
• Experience with PCBA-level and system-level packaging.
• Experience across full product lifecycle from concept to sustainment.
• Proficiency with ANSYS Mechanical or SolidWorks Simulation.
• Experience with manufacturing methods (CNC, sheet metal, add‑itive).
• Experience with environmental qualification testing (MIL‑STD, RTCA DO‑160).
• Knowledge of IPC, ASME, SAE, MIL‑STD, RTCA DO‑160 standards.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to balance competing demands across programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Mechanical Engineers and foster high performance.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and career development for team members.
• Staffing, onboarding, and resource planning across programs.
• Collaborate with program leadership to meet technical, cost, and schedule goals.
• Develop and improve mechanical engineering processes, standards, and tools.
• Promote technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship.
• Serve as senior technical contributor for ruggedized packaging and phased array systems.
• Lead or support concept development, architecture, detailed design, analysis, manufacturing, and production transition.
• Support proposal development and customer design reviews.
• Foster collaboration across Mechanical, Electrical, RF, Manufacturing, Quality, Test, and Supply Chain.
• Promote CesiumAstro’s culture, values, and continuous improvement.
