Job summary

CesiumAstro in the United States is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our mechanical engineering organization across multiple programs, building a high-performing team and ensuring robust engineering processes from concept through qualification and in-orbit support.

You will drive architecture decisions, system-level requirements, and design reviews while partnering with manufacturing, supply chain, and program management to deliver on ambitious aerospace hardware initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7–9 years in mechanical design/analysis for aerospace/space systems with 1–3 years of engineering management.
• Deep expertise in mechanical design/analysis for aerospace/space applications.
• Experience with electronics packaging at PCBA and system levels.
• Strong understanding of structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis.
• Knowledge of environmental testing and qualification standards for space hardware.
• Familiarity with aerospace materials and manufacturing processes (CNC, composites, additive manufacture).
• Understanding of system integration, AI&T, and launch constraints.
• Proven ability to lead technical trade studies and make architecture-level decisions.
• Experience developing and implementing engineering processes and best practices.
• Proficiency with CAD and PDM tools (SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM).
• Experience with simulation tools (ANSYS Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation).
• Excellent communication skills.

• Provide technical oversight for high-risk/high-visibility programs.
• Lead and participate in design reviews with customers and executives.
• Define and implement mechanical engineering processes and verification frameworks.
• Establish documentation standards across programs.
• Ensure allocation and prioritization of engineering resources.
• Drive schedule, cost, quality, and technical performance accountability.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, and partners.
• Contribute to product roadmap through mechanical strategy and innovation.
• Support proposals with technical solutions and cost estimates.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency.
