Re:Build Manufacturing in Rochester, NY is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to lead the design of custom equipment and modular systems from concept through fabrication release. You will develop 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, delivering assemblies, weldments and BOMs with GD&T.

You will work directly with clients, colleagues, and fabrication teams, mentoring junior designers and supporting proposals and estimates.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical design experience in an industrial or engineering environment.
• Proficiency in 3D/2D modelling in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience designing equipment and assemblies from concept through release.
• Strong knowledge of design principles, tolerances, and fabrication methods.
• Ability to manage complex design tasks and collaborate with teams.
• Experience reviewing drawings and providing technical guidance to others.
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design/Drafting.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of custom equipment and modular systems from concept to fabrication release.
• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings including layouts and weldments in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Create general arrangement drawings, layouts, BOMs using GD&T and drafting standards.
• Solve complex mechanical design challenges with a focus on safety, manufacturability, and cost.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop integrated designs.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior designers/drafters.
• Support fabrication, assembly, and installation activities.
• Contribute to project planning, proposals, and engineering estimates.
• Improve design standards, tools, and processes for quality and efficiency.
