Job summary

Re:Build is seeking an early-career Mechanical Drafter to turn engineering concepts into fabrication-ready drawings. The role focuses on creating 2D/3D drawings, assembling documentation, and supporting layout and equipment design in Rochester and Rush, NY with occasional travel.

You will work with experienced designers to produce accurate CAD packages, update BOMs, and participate in design reviews, while growing toward a mechanical or piping designer path.

Qualifications

• 2+ years mechanical drafting or CAD experience required.
• Foundational experience with 2D or 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create basic mechanical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with senior designers.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and assembly documentation using CAD software.
• Support the design of mechanical components, piping layouts and industrial systems.
• Turn technical concepts into accurate, fabrication-ready drawings with senior designers.
• Develop and update BOMs, drawing packages, and engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication teams to meet project requirements.
• Assist with design changes, drawing revisions, and troubleshooting during fabrication.
• Participate in design reviews and learn industry standards for drafting and dimensioning.
• Contribute to improvements in drafting processes and documentation standards.
