Job summary

Raytheon, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer in the US RI Portsmouth area. The role focuses on mechanical hardware design, documentation, and integration for defense systems.

You will lead team activities, perform design reviews, and collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure robust, producible solutions. A DoD Secret clearance is required and domestic/international travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
• Experience in mechanical design, advanced design development, manufacturing or tooling processes, or related areas.
• Experience in the development, creation, release, or updates of engineering drawings utilizing a 3D CAD design tool.

• Develop mechanical hardware design and documentation for complex defense systems.
• Lead small teams and manage tasks to meet schedule and technical goals.
