Job summary

RTX's Hardware Mechanical Engineering team leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of critical defense systems. The HWE Team uses state-of-the-art tools, advanced analysis, and RTX CORE principles to deliver reliable solutions across programs involving ruggedized structures and electronics packaging.

As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer in Portsmouth, RI, you will mentor engineers, lead cross-functional design reviews, perform tolerance analyses, and collaborate

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 8+ years experience, or Advanced Degree with 5+ years.
• Experience creating, reviewing, and interpreting technical documentation for hardware or tooling.
• Experience in mechanical design, development, manufacturing or tooling processes.
• Experience in engineering drawings using a 3D CAD tool.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative technical solutions across the product lifecycle for radars, equipment and electronics.
• Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function.
• Lead small teams in a fast-paced environment with ruggedized structures and electronics packaging.
• Support product integration at domestic and international factories and supplier locations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges and develop design solutions.
• Independently manage tasks to meet schedule and budget.
