Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead high‑priority design efforts for F135 base or ECU CIPTs in a fast‑paced aerospace setting.

The role emphasizes leadership, advanced 3D modeling, cross‑discipline collaboration, and hands‑on engine work with travel up to 20%. Eligibility includes a relevant engineering degree and extensive experience in mechanical design.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years in mechanical design.
• U.S. citizenship required for access to program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative design solutions that meet milestones.
• Lead producibility investigations with vendors, on-site or remotely.
• Lead ECU design validation activities in coordination with manufacturing.
• Apply 3D modeling to refine component- and module-level designs.
• Lead or support field-incident investigations with root-cause analyses.
• Develop serviceable limits via advanced data processing and cross-discipline work.
• Participate in engine tear-downs and collaborate across IPTs.
• Mentor junior engineers within CIPT/design teams.
• Support safety analyses and risk mitigation; present results to customers.
