Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance and uphold quality standards at the branch level. You will mentor B and C level mechanics, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure equipment remains on the rental ready line through safe, professional maintenance programs.

The role requires hands-on diagnostic work across engines, electrical, hydraulics, and fuel systems, with a focus on efficiency, reporting, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated mastery of all Mechanic B and C-level tasks.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems.
• Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet at the branch.
• Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes Herc Rentals quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks independently.
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, and other services.
• Recondition and replace parts of heavy equipment.
• Diagnose problem areas for wear or tear on equipment.
• Produce timely service reports and repair logs.
