Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Shop Mechanic A to lead maintenance and repairs on our fleet at the branch level. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and ensure equipment remains on the rental ready line.

Ideal candidates will master SOPs, work with diagnostic tools, and mentor Mechanic B/C technicians while maintaining safe, organized work areas and detailed service logs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand tools to complete most repairs.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Mastery of Mechanic B and C level tasks.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, propane, and fuel systems; proficiency with diagnostic tools and fleet systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet maintenance per branch, region, and national SOPs.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Herc-owned fleet.
• Diagnose engines, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems; perform major repairs.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and calibrate equipment.
• Assist in training less senior technicians and review work orders.
