Torrance Unified School District is seeking a qualified transportation supervisor to oversee evening shift operations for district buses and automotive equipment. The role includes journey-level repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and coordinating on-shift work flow.
A minimum of three years journey-level mechanical maintenance experience and a valid California Class B driver's license are required. This full-time, year-round position offers district benefits.

This is a PROMOTIONAL AND OPEN recruitment to establish an eligibility list and fill a vacancy. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. In a promotional and open recruitment, the promotional list shall take precedence. When the promotional list contains fewer than three eligible and willing employees, certification of additional ranks shall then be made from the open list.
The current vacancy is full-time, 12 months per year, Monday-Friday 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM.
The recruitment process will consist of a written and/or performance examination and an oral technical interview, which are tentatively scheduled during the weeks of September 21-October 2, 2026. Qualified applicants will be notified by US mail or email.
Under the direction of the Supervisor-Transportation, oversee evening shift operations, participate in major and minor repairs of school buses and a variety of District automotive and mechanical equipment, perform journey-level repair, maintenance and overhaul of gasoline and diesel engines in District vehicles including buses and trucks; plan, assign and review the work of others during an assigned shift.
Any combination equivalent to: three years journey-level mechanical maintenance experience.
Valid California Class B driver's license. Employees in this classification must maintain insurability at the District's standard rate during the term of employment.
