Responsibilities:
- Serve as the resident Lead Manufacturing Engineer supporting North American manufacturing facilities, ensuring seamless alignment between product development and production readiness.
- Lead cross-functional product development teams in selecting, developing, and improving manufacturing processes and product designs.
- Oversee the successful launch of new products and programs by coordinating efforts between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams.
- Collaborate with quality engineering to identify and define key product characteristics critical to performance and manufacturability.
- Drive the design and implementation of robust tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes that meet performance, quality, and cost objectives.
- Facilitate manufacturing system design workshops and document resulting improvements and cost savings.
- Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), incorporating comprehensive risk analysis and control strategies.
- Lead process qualification, validation, and stabilization activities to ensure consistent and repeatable manufacturing outcomes.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing product quality, reducing cost, and increasing efficiency.
- Manage capital expenditure timelines related to tooling and equipment, supporting accurate capital forecasting and budgeting.
- Oversee the engineering change process for implementing product and process improvements.
- Support cost-saving initiatives across North American manufacturing plants by leveraging technical expertise and lean manufacturing principles.
- Travel extensively (45–50%) to North American sites during new product launches, and an additional 15–20% for ongoing support and optimization efforts.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information across cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated leadership experience guiding cross-functional product development teams through process selection, development, and continuous improvement.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Solid understanding and practical experience with Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs).
Preferred:
- Previous work experience in the automotive industry or in an industrial/manufacturing engineering setting.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling implementation.
- Background in plant operations or direct operations support.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.
