As a Lead Additive Manufacturing Production Engineer with MTSI, you will provide support to the Air Force's Rapid Sustainment Office. This position will be in Beavercreek, Ohio.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Lead Additive Manufacturing Production Manager to support the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office's (RSO) Advanced Manufacturing Program Office (AMPO). The RSO deploys new technologies across the sustainment enterprise to improve readiness and reduce sustainment costs. The sustainment enterprise includes both field and depot level maintenance as well as enterprise supply chain and program office sustainment activities. Inherent in the accomplishment of the RSO mission is rapid delivery of critical sustainment technologies. The AMPO is responsible for implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies across the Department of the Air Force while collaborating across industry, academia, and government.
The Lead Additive Manufacturing (AM) Production Engineer is an expert in advanced manufacturing technologies such as AM and cold spray; ensures AMPO technologies can meet airworthiness requirements for AF weapon systems; advances materials and process qualification, testing approaches, and specifications & standards; authors technical orders and operating instructions for advanced manufacturing technologies; and is responsible for evaluating emerging additive and repair technologies (including COTS and GOTS).

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
* Leading development and evaluating performance of AM (particularly metals) and additive repair technologies
* Leading the identification and collaboration on impactful manufacturing processes with both internal teams and external partners to advance and qualify high-performance AM solutions for Air Force applications
* Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) operational needs related to advanced manufacturing
* Providing technical expertise on external contracts focused on the development, demonstration, and integration of metals produced with advanced manufacturing techniques into Air Force systems
* Communicating findings to the technical community, DoD programs, and senior leadership to enable transition of technology to industry and DoD users
* Interacting and developing partnerships with government, industrial, and academic partners to advance additive materials, process, testing, and qualification specifications & standards.
* 20+ years of experience in the physical metallurgy of aerospace alloy systems (e.g., Al, Ti, Ni, refractory alloys)
* Experience with aerospace manufacturing process development and material/process/part qualification
* Experience of leading teams in a development environment and interacting with customers
* Familiarity with destructive and non-destructive materials characterization techniques to analyze microstructure, chemistry, and defects (e.g., microscopy, X-ray, non-destructive inspection techniques)
* Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience presenting at conferences, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and leading workshops
* Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and define key technical requirements for Air Force-related programs
Desired Requirements:
* 20+ years of experience in aerospace or related industry as an engineer
* Team-oriented approach and skills at building networks
* Strong background in materials research and experimental characterization, and experience with cast, wrought, and powder metallurgy techniques
* Background in program management, to include setting project requirements and executing technical, cost, and schedule objectives
* Awareness or experience with materials, process, and testing specifications & standards
* Experience qualifying advanced manufacturing methods to produce aerospace materials and components (particularly metals)
* Knowledge of AF Metals Technology shops and Depot Maintenance manufacturing processes or equivalent commercial MRO facilities
Education Requirements:
* Master's or PhD in Materials Science/Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering

Clearance Requirements:
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
* U.S. Citizenship is required for this position
