Job summary

AvalonBay Communities, a leading residential REIT, is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician in West Palm Beach, FL. The role emphasizes diagnosing and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance to keep communities safe and welcoming.

You will mentor Technicians I & II, manage work orders, and ensure homes are rent‑ready while upholding safety and quality standards across properties.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance experience in residential or similar settings.
• HVAC knowledge with CFC certifications or willingness to learn.
• Valid driver’s license.
• On-call schedule in rotation.
• Ability to read policies and procedures and safety data sheets.
• Strong communication with residents and team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, and related systems.
• Assist with creating and organizing work orders and completing repairs promptly.
• Ensure vacant apartments and garages are rent‑ready with turnkey work.
• Train and supervise Maintenance Technicians I & II.
• Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) and daily inspections.
• Maintain safety culture and follow AVB policies.
• Perform Hot Works (brazing, soldering, welding) where applicable.
