Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a dedicated facilities maintenance technician to perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance across a multi‑facility site. You will work with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other trades, ensuring safe, efficient operation and supervising a team including offenders during tasks.

Requirements include knowledge of building maintenance, potential EPA certification, and a HS diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of methods, practices, tools, and materials used in general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and machinery.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal Technician certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain systems within the facility and related buildings to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Service and repair drainage, water heating, and circulating systems.
• Repair kitchen equipment and perform minor building repairs.
• Inspect HVAC systems and controls; supervise skilled and unskilled staff, including offenders.
