Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician III at Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro. You perform preventive and routine maintenance across multiple trades to keep facility systems safe and efficient.

The role includes supervising skilled and unskilled staff, including offenders, and may require weekend/holiday work. Strong welding and machine shop skills preferred; high school or GED and two years of progressive maintenance experience required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, and materials used in building maintenance and repair.
• Skill in acetylene and electric welding equipment.
• Operate common machine shop equipment.
• Physical strength to perform heavy tasks for extended periods.
• Follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and routine maintenance across multiple trades.
• Repair and maintain generators, gate operators, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boiler systems, and kitchen equipment.
• Supervise the work of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled staff including offenders.
• Be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
