Job summary

State of North Carolina's Department of Adult Correction seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) at Rutherford Correctional Center in Salisbury, NC. You will perform preventive and routine maintenance on facility systems, work at the journeyman level in electrical, and support HVAC/plumbing/carpentry trades as needed.

Responsibilities include supervising skilled and unskilled laborers, maintaining safety, and ensuring efficient operation; a valid driver's license is required at hire.

Qualifications

• High school or GED diploma and two years of progressive experience in the assigned trades.
• Knowledge of methods, practices and materials used in general maintenance and repair.
• EPA certification may be required for some duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on facility systems and support buildings.
• Work at the journeyman level in electrical and at least one additional trade (HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry).
• Repair kitchen equipment and make minor interior and exterior building repairs.
• Supervise skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled laborers; support other staff during preventive maintenance.
• Hold a valid driver’s license upon hire.
