Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) for Rutherford Correctional Center in Salisbury, NC. The role focuses on preventive and routine maintenance across facility systems and support buildings, at a journeyman level in electrical and another trade such as HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED with two years of progressive trade experience; EPA certification may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with two years of progressive experience in assigned trade areas.
• EPA certification may be required by State regulations.
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair methods and materials; ability to plan projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on facility systems and support buildings.
• Work at journeyman level in electrical and at least one other trade (HVAC, plumbing or carpentry).
• Repair kitchen equipment and interior/exterior building components.
• Supervise skilled and unskilled laborers; coordinate tasks during preventive maintenance.
• Hold a valid driver's license upon hire.
