Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) at Rutherford Correctional Center in Salisbury, NC. The role performs preventive and routine corrective maintenance on facility systems and support buildings, working at the journeyman level in electrical and at least one other trade.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED with two years of progressive experience in the trades. EPA technician certification may be required.

Qualifications

• Two years of progressive experience in the assigned trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EPA certification may be required for Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, CFR Part 82, Subpart F.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance on facility systems and support buildings.
• Work at the journeyman level in electrical and at least one other trade (HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry).
• Repair kitchen equipment and interior/exterior building elements.
• Supervise skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled laborers during maintenance tasks.
