Job summary

Boston Housing Authority seeks a Maintenance Superintendent I to supervise a team performing building maintenance and custodial work across properties in the Greater Boston area. You will study plans, assign tasks, inspect workmanship, and maintain records of work, costs, and supplies.

The role requires substantial experience in building maintenance, supervisory capability, and the ability to coordinate with staff and tenants to ensure safe, efficient upkeep of facilities.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to completion of two years in, and preferably graduation from a four-year trade or vocational high school with courses in building construction or shop work.
• Considerable experience in general building maintenance.
• Knowledge of operation and maintenance of buildings and related equipment.
• Ability to supervise and direct a group engaged in building maintenance activities; initiative and resourcefulness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of skilled workers in building maintenance and custodial tasks.
• Study drawings/specifications and inspect conditions to determine required work.
• Assign work and advise on methods; inspect progress and final results.
• Keep records of work, prepare reports and cost estimates; requisition materials.
