Job summary

JLL invites an experienced Lead Maintenance Mechanic to join our engineering operations in Walkersville, MD. You will join a team that combines hands-on maintenance with leadership to ensure optimal building performance across assigned properties.

The role emphasizes supervising staff, guiding repairs, managing work orders, and contributing to monthly and quarterly operations reporting. Strong technical skills, safety focus, and clear communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent GED.
• 4 years of technical and supervisory experience in building engineering with strong background in repair and building maintenance.
• Excellent working knowledge of Excel and Word.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude with ability to work independently and in team environments.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
• Physical ability to lift minimum 80 lbs., use ladders up to 30 ft, and perform overhead work while maintaining balance.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and technical support to the Engineering Services team, serving as the subject matter expert in general maintenance repairs and services.
• Manage work orders and maintain critical building information systems, coordinating with Operations Manager/Chief Engineer on priorities, completion dates, and estimates.
• Plan and schedule engineering work according to established priorities while coordinating purchasing and inventory control procedures.
• Conduct weekly on-site Quality Assurance inspections of maintained facilities and respond effectively to emergency situations.
• Maintain staffing schedules, timekeeping, and employment records for engineering teams in connection with planning and executing maintenance work.
• Support preparation of monthly and quarterly operations reports while making recommendations for systems improvements and capital projects.
• Maintain liaison with management regarding building criticality, work order status, and operational priorities.
