Job summary

Silver Bay Seafoods LLC in Craig, AK, seeks a Chief Engineer to lead maintenance across multiple plant systems, including refrigeration, electrical, and process equipment. You will manage and instruct department heads, schedule preventive maintenance, and drive safety and efficiency.

This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, knowledge of ammonia and refrigerants, and experience in industrial facilities maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 5 years related documented experience operating and managing a production facility.
• Highly experienced in multiple Engineering skills, including general knowledge of Millwright, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electrical, Electrical Control, PLC, IT, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Diesel Engines, Rolling Stock, Inventory, Building Maintenance, General Construction, Fabricating and Welding Processes.
• Knowledge of industrial machines and facilities maintenance and repair, as necessary.
• Skills and extensive knowledge and experience in refrigeration theory, operation, and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on both low temperature and RSW systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and maintenance department heads and employees to facilitate efficient production processes and minimize downtime.
• Coordinate the changes and modifications to facilities equipment either on the fly as needed during production or during downtime.
• Identify dangers and help prevent accidents, in addition to explaining and enforcing company policy and general safety practices.
• Coordinate proper and up to date inventory of parts, tools and other maintenance supplies.
• Oversee all engineering and maintenance departments during production, including assigning personnel to areas and shifts and scheduling maintenance and repairs.
