Job summary

TEKsystems is hiring for a Charleston, SC-based role focusing on leading field crews in structured cabling and security system installations. The position involves mentoring technicians, reviewing drawings, and coordinating daily field activities to ensure quality and safety across commercial projects.

You will install and certify Cat6/Cat6A cabling, fiber optic systems, access control, and surveillance components, while maintaining thorough documentation and meeting client standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage, or electronic security systems.
• Previous experience leading technicians or serving as a field lead.
• Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards, fiber installation and testing, cable pathways, and access control/surveillance systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and construction documents.
• Experience with cable certification testers and fiber testing equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor small crews on active project sites.
• Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and certify: Cat6/Cat6A, fiber, racks, patch panels, pathways.
• Support installation and troubleshooting of access control, surveillance, card readers, and related hardware.
• Review project drawings and documents; perform copper and fiber testing.
• Coordinate daily jobsite activities and assign work by technician skill.
• Maintain project documentation including testing records and as-built information.
• Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and project managers.
• Ensure installations meet quality, safety, and customer standards.
