Job summary

Amteck, a leading low‑voltage contractor, seeks a Technician 3 to join the Technologies Team in Charleston, SC. You will install, maintain, and repair cabling and devices for ITS, CCTV, paging, and access control, leading a crew of 4–6 and ensuring quality per contractual documents and NEC codes.

You will read blueprints, terminate fiber and copper, manage materials, and coordinate schedules while maintaining safety and customer satisfaction across diverse client sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of verified experience with low voltage systems and cabling.
  • Proficient in installing and troubleshooting Infrastructure (ITS), Access Control/Security, CCTV, Fiber, AV, and Paging systems.
  • Ability to install devices for Access Control/Security, CCTV, Wi-Fi, and Paging.
  • Manufacturer certifications in Uni-Cam fiber terminations and Mini-Com terminations or willingness to obtain them.
  • Experience building MDF, IDF, enclosures, ladder trays, baskets, and 2-4-post racks.
  • Experienced with punch down, routing, labeling, and dressing cabling for racks or enclosures.
  • Knowledge of UPS installation in racks or enclosures.
  • Understanding of multi-mode vs single-mode fiber and ability to terminate data jacks and mod plugs.
  • Proficient with test equipment, fluke testing software, COINS, Box, Microsoft Office, and related software.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, drawings, wire maps, and specifications.
  • Clear, detailed record-keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of firestopping, riser/plenum spaces, and NEC codes.
  • Physical ability and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

  • Maintain detailed records of device and cable locations and test results.
  • Ensure safe use of tools, proper firestopping, and work in various environments.

Primary Role

The Technician 3 works as part of a team to install, maintain, and repair cabling and devices for low voltage systems, under the direction of a Technologies Project Manager or Superintendent. The role includes leading teams of 4‑6 members, performing field work, and ensuring high quality in compliance with contractual documents, codes, and company standards.
