Job summary

TEKsystems in Spartanburg, SC is hiring a Commercial Cable Technician to install, maintain, and repair structured network cabling for business environments. You will run and terminate Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, and coaxial systems, interpret schematics, and ensure proper documentation and safety compliance.

The role requires 3+ years in commercial low-voltage cabling, strong tool proficiency, and the ability to lift up to 50-80 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 3+ years hands-on experience in commercial low-voltage or structured cabling.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, punch-down tools, and OTDRs or cable certifiers.

Responsibilities

• Install, lace, and route low-voltage cables through ceilings, walls, and raised floors using J-hooks and cable trays.
• Punch down and terminate voice and data blocks, patch panels, and jacks; assist with server room and rack organization.
• Use diagnostic meters and cable testers to measure signal strength, locate faults, and fix connectivity issues.
• Interpret blueprints and schematics to plan cable paths; label cables and update network documentation to comply with codes.
