Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a hands-on Lead Low-Voltage Technician in Rock Hill, SC to lead crews across Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC markets. You will install and troubleshoot Cat 6/6A copper cabling, fiber, racks, and related infrastructure, review drawings, and coordinate technicians on active jobsites.

You will communicate with customers, ensure safety and workmanship, and mentor junior staff while traveling regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial structured cabling, low-voltage, or electronic-security installation.
• Experience leading technicians and directing field activity on projects.
• Hands-on installation work and customer-facing representation.
• Ability to read construction drawings and cable schedules.
• Knowledge of copper/fiber testing and certification processes.
• Preference for BICSI/OSHA and relevant manufacturer certs.

Responsibilities

• Lead small field crews, install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and drive project completion.
• Review drawings, plans, and installation requirements before directing work.
• Install and troubleshoot Cat 6/6A copper cabling, single-mode fiber, multimode fiber, racks, patch panels, and pathways.
• Support access control, surveillance, and other security systems per project needs.
• Direct daily field activities and ensure task clarity and safety.
• Monitor progress, material needs, and schedule risk; report to leadership.
• Perform quality checks, document issues, and oversee corrective actions.
• Conduct copper certification and fiber testing; document results.
• Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and teams.
• Mentor less-experienced technicians and promote safe practices.
