Job summary

Jacksonville State University seeks a Locksmith III to provide master-level and supervisory locksmith services for campus facilities. The role covers repair, resetting and installation of locking devices, and key manufacture.

The position requires frequent interaction with staff and may lead subordinate locksmiths, overseeing lock and key services and building security. The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma with five years of locksmith experience; supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Five (5) years’ locksmith experience with various hardware types.
• Preferred: experience supervising others in locksmith work.

Responsibilities

• Meets with hardware architect to review hardware schedule for new/renovated buildings.
• Assists with installation of new locks and issuance of keys.
• Prepares materials and equipment requisitions.
• Repairs locks, doors, and door closures in University buildings; replaces locks.
• Inspects work of locksmiths and contractors.
• Trains employees in basic and advanced locksmith skills.
