Job summary

The University of Florida on the Gainesville Main Campus is hiring a Locksmith II to install, maintain, and repair various building locks and key systems. The role includes keying new cylinders, repairing desk and file cabinet locks, and supporting exit hardware and access control installations.

The position requires either an approved locksmith apprenticeship or a high school diploma with two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved locksmith apprenticeship program or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience.
• Vocational training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
• Experience with master keying systems and access controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair building locks including cylindrical, unit, mortise and rim variants.
• Cut new or replacement keys for authorized personnel and manage key requests.
• Repair or replace door hardware and ensure facilities remain accessible and secured.
• Maintain master key systems and assist during renovations with locking device planning.
