Job summary

PENN Entertainment in Toledo, OH is seeking an experienced Cook for a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen. You will prepare meals to meet recipe standards, manage production levels, and work to ensure food safety and quality while delivering friendly, attentive service to guests.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, five years of cooking experience in high-volume operations, and the ability to obtain ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• Five years' prior experience as cook in high-volume food service operation.
• Must be able to obtain ServSafe certification.
• Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, operation, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
• Familiar with all phases of food preparation techniques.
• Read, write legibly, understand and speak English.
• Excellent customer service/communication skills.
• Available to work required schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
• Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.
• Must be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring products meet all recipe standards.
• Maintaining proper production levels.
• Knowledge of all applicable food preparation methods and measures.
• Knows and understands all cooking tools and measurement conversions.
• Communicating and maintaining proper staffing levels with daily volume.
• Ensuring proper handling and storage of food items as per internal and Health Department standards.
• Maintaining integrity with food and labor controls.
• Has good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding and following all policies and procedures.
• Relieving line cooks as needed.
• Providing personalized service and using guests’ names when possible.
• Knowing and promoting current casino events and programs and can give guests directions to all casino areas.
