Job summary

Renovo Solutions seeks a Life Science Engineer, Supervisor to lead the technical function at a Johnson & Johnson ELIS site. You will supervise site engineers, own qualification standards, and ensure platform coverage across instrument families with rigorous safety and data integrity practices.

You will manage hiring, training, and performance, serve as the final escalation point for complex diagnostics, and coordinate with the Center of Excellence for high-level issues while maintaining site

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on service experience on laboratory or analytical instrumentation, or equivalent biomedical equipment service experience
• 2+ years supervising or leading technical staff
• Experience across multiple instrument platforms (chromatography, MS, spectroscopy, plates, centrifugation, cell culture)
• Ability to diagnose faults beyond the manufacturer service manual and challenge vendor diagnoses
• Experience building self-perform service capability on OEM platforms
• Experience in client facilities as an embedded service provider preferred
• Working knowledge of GxP, calibration traceability and data integrity
• Experience with CMMS and data reporting
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech/research environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise the site Life Science Engineers and technical staff, including work allocation, priority and daily technical direction
• Own hiring input, onboarding, performance management and development for the site technical team
• Hold the qualification standard: no engineer works independently on a platform until qualified and signed off
• Build platform coverage depth so no instrument family depends on a single person
• Identify training needs and drive them through the Technical Training Specialist
• Manage technical coverage during absence, shutdowns, holidays and planned outages
• Act as the final technical escalation point on diagnostics and repair
• Determine whether issues are instrument, operator, environmental, or consumable before service calls
• Make or endorse return-to-service decisions on instruments where site judgment is required
• Escalate to the Technical Center of Excellence when beyond site capability
• Provide technical input on repair vs. replacement and lifecycle decisions
• Review vendor/ OEM diagnoses and ensure work matches observed faults
• Verify vendor work to specification and not just reports
• Set standards for escorting and supervising third-party personnel at site
• Own the self-perform service capability and progression of platform qualifications
• Drive accuracy of calibration records and site-level data
