Position Summary
As a Lead Lien Specialist, you will be responsible for leading employees apart of the Liens team including providing direction, assigning tasks, and ensuring that work is completed according to the established standards and deadlines. An ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of liens and subrogation, managing the lien process, compliance with legal requirements, and facilitating the resolution of any outstanding issues related to liens. You will collaborate closely with other internal teams, departments and management to analyze problems and resolve challenges that arise. You will monitor performance and provide feedback to drive team performance and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising and guiding team members to ensure their work is complete and provide support and guidance to help team members meet their goals.
- Review and analyze legal documents, medical bills, and records toidentifylien-related obligations and requirements.
- Thoroughly examine the case file and settlement documents to ensure accuracy andidentifyany existingliensor subrogation.
- Conduct comprehensive checks todetermineif there are any outstandingliens, subrogation or bankruptcy filings that may affect the settlement.
- Verify that relevant entities, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Tricare, if applicable, have been notified of the settlement, and ensure that you have received theappropriate responses.
- Follow the attorney's instructions to review and, if necessary, dispute or negotiate reductions for anyliensor subrogation associated with the case
- Usecasemanagement system to accurately document the status ofliens, ensuring that all information is up to date and accessible to theappropriate parties.
- If there are specificliensthat requireadditionalverification, such as hospitalliens, conduct a secondary check to ensure eachlienis properly addressed beforefinalizingthe payout.
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, internal departments, external vendors, and clients to address lien-related inquiries or concerns.
- Maintain organized records oflien-related documentation and correspondence for future reference and audit purposes.
- Stay informed about changes in lien laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience as a legal closing specialist, subrogation analyst, settlements coordinator, lien processer, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding oflienandsubrogationlaws, regulations, and legal principles.
- Excellent analytical skills witha keenattention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
- Ability tomaintainconfidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements
- Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
- Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery such as a copy machine/printer. May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
- Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
- Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionallymovessupplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
