Ferraro Law seeks a Lien Specialist to identify, track, verify, negotiate, and resolve medical liens and related reimbursement claims in personal injury matters. Qualifications

  • 1+ years in a personal injury law firm, insurance, medical billing, collections, subrogation, settlement administration, or related field.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with attorneys and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and track medical liens, subrogation claims, and other settlement-related obligations.
  • Request and obtain lien documentation, itemized bills, payment histories, and payoff statements.
  • Review records and billing information for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Communicate with medical providers, insurance companies, government programs, and other lienholders.
  • Negotiate lien balances and reductions when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate lien tracking spreadsheets and case-management records.
  • Follow up consistently on outstanding lien requests and negotiations.
  • Coordinate lien resolution with attorneys and settlement/disbursement teams.
  • Obtain documentation confirming resolution or satisfaction of liens.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all communications and negotiations.
  • Handle confidential client and case information appropriately.
  • Manage a high volume of cases while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.

Job description

The Lien Specialist will be responsible for identifying, tracking, verifying, negotiating, and resolving medical liens and other reimbursement claims associated with personal injury matters. This position will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and other lienholders to ensure outstanding claims are properly addressed and resolved prior to settlement disbursement.

Qualifications
Required:
  • 1+ years of experience in a personal injury law firm, insurance, medical billing, collections, subrogation, settlement administration, or a related field.

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with attorneys and support staff.
Preferred:
  • Direct experience handling personal injury liens.
  • Experience negotiating medical bills or lien reductions.
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement processes.
  • Experience with health insurance subrogation or ERISA claims.
  • Familiarity with letters of protection.
  • Experience with personal injury case-management software.
  • Experience working through the settlement/disbursement process.
