Job summary

Genuine Search Group seeks a Manager of Billing Services in Chicago to lead a four-person billing team within a midsize law firm. The role offers a hybrid schedule (3 days remote, 2 days in office) and autonomy reporting to the Director of Finance.

You will guide daily billing workflows, ensure accurate client invoices, and partner on AR and collections with the accounting team. Strong leadership and client-focused service are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal billing experience in a law firm.
• Strong command of legal billing processes and AR support.
• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the billing team to maintain service standards.
• Oversee invoice preparation, accuracy, and timeliness per client guidelines.
• Manage daily billing workflows and allocate resources to meet deadlines.
• Serve as escalation point for billing questions from attorneys and staff.
• Oversee electronic billing submissions and monitor statuses across e-billing platforms.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries.
• Collaborate with Director of Finance on AR efforts and billing-related collections.
• Generate and analyze billing, WIP, and AR reports for decision-making.
• Lead onboarding, training, and ongoing development for the team.
