Job summary

The University of Arizona invites applications for a senior laboratory engineer in the AME department. The role collaborates with faculty and graduate students to design, develop, and validate laboratory experiments across undergraduate and graduate offerings using common instrumentation and data systems.

You will lead fabrication of custom fixtures, ensure safety compliance, and provide technical direction for staff and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of 3 years related work experience or equivalent combination.
• Preferred: Masters degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience developing and validating laboratory experiments with faculty/students.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and develop laboratory experiments for AME academic labs.
• Advise on technical feasibility and constraints during experimental design.
• Build and test prototype fixtures and test stands for instruction.
• Oversee calibration, validation, and maintenance of lab equipment.
• Develop safety procedures, training, and regulatory compliance.
