Job summary

ZAVTEK in Seattle, WA is seeking an experienced Washington State EL01 Journeyman Electrician to support our critical power operations, with a primary focus on UPS battery installation, replacement, maintenance, and related electrical work.

This position involves supervising electrical trainees on battery installations and ensuring work complies with Washington State requirements, company procedures, and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Current Washington State EL01 Journeyman Electrician license in good standing.
• Demonstrated experience performing electrical installations and/or service work.
• Experience with UPS systems, battery systems, DC power systems, or critical power equipment preferred.
• Ability to supervise electrical trainees in the field.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety practices.
• Ability to read/interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment and hand/power tools safely.
• Ability to work independently while mentoring trainees.
• Valid driver's license and driving record.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations.
• Experience working in data centers or critical facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee installation, replacement, maintenance, and removal of batteries used in UPS and critical power systems.
• Provide direct, on-site supervision of electrical trainees performing battery installation and related work.
• Ensure trainees work within WA state requirements and company procedures.
• Maintain responsibility for quality and safety of work under supervision.
• Install, terminate, connect, disconnect, and test electrical components for UPS/battery systems.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, manuals, and installation instructions.
• Verify installation, polarity, torque, labeling, and configuration of battery strings and equipment.
• Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting as required.
• Identify unsafe conditions or deficiencies and take corrective action.
• Complete installation records, test results, inspection forms, service reports, and customer docs.
• Communicate effectively with customers, PMs, supervisors, and field staff.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow OSHA, WA L&I, PPE, lockout/tagout, and company requirements.
• Follow manufacturer specs and customer procedures for critical power equipment.
• Assist with commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and service activities.
• Travel to customer sites; work in data centers and critical facilities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
