Job summary

Swoon is seeking a Lead IT Business Analyst for a long-term contract in Seattle. You will liaise between business stakeholders and software teams to drive requirements gathering and translate complex needs into clear, actionable requirements.

You will lead user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and manage traceability in Azure DevOps, while guiding cross-functional groups through project workstreams and readiness activities.

Qualifications

  • Senior or Lead IT Business Analyst with extensive experience.
  • Experience supporting utility or energy organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of NERC documentation and regulated utility environments.
  • Expert-level experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Advanced experience gathering, mapping, documenting, and validating requirements.
  • Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, process maps, and use cases.
  • Ability to translate complex business requests into actionable technical requirements.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, written communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements-gathering sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Document functional, system, process, and operational requirements.
  • Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, workflows, and use cases.
  • Manage requirements, traceability, and documentation within Azure DevOps.
  • Analyze information gathered through interviews, document reviews, surveys, site visits, and workflow analysis.
  • Identify requirement gaps, dependencies, risks, and process-improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and requirements-review sessions.
  • Support testing, implementation, and operational-readiness activities.
  • Lead project workstreams and cross-functional stakeholder groups.

Job description

We are hiring a Lead IT Business Analyst for a long-term contract opportunity with a major utility organization.

Job Title: Lead IT Business Analyst
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Duration: August 17, 2026 – August 12, 2028
Pay Rate: $80–$85 per hour
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 50% onsite in Seattle and 50% remote

The Lead IT Business Analyst will serve as the liaison between business stakeholders and software development teams, leading requirements-gathering efforts and translating complex business needs into clear functional, system, process, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead requirements-gathering sessions with business and technical stakeholders
  • Document functional, system, process, and operational requirements
  • Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, workflows, and use cases
  • Manage requirements, traceability, and documentation within Azure DevOps

  • Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, process maps, and use cases

  • Strong leadership, facilitation, written communication, and stakeholder-management skills

Experience supporting NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection initiatives, utility operations, compliance programs, or large-scale technology implementations is highly preferred.
