Job summary

You will read specifications, hoist and position steel members, verify alignment, and perform cutting, welding, bolting, and rigging tasks on construction sites under varying weather and shift conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with field experience.
• Strong working knowledge/abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand and transmit written and oral instructions clearly.
• Proficient with electrical, hand, power, and layout tools and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to determine material locations, quantities, or sizes.
• Fabricate metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units; hoist and position steel members.
• Verify alignment using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces with torches or welding equipment.
• Position structural steel using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks or hand tools.
• Bolt, rivet, or weld structural members in place.
• Assemble hoisting equipment to move heavy equipment or materials.
• Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, times, costs, resources needed.
• Inspect work for compliance and correct deficiencies.
