Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company is hiring an ironworker to read specifications and blueprints, lay out material, and assemble or erect structural steel components on job sites in Mississippi.

You will use cranes and rigging as needed, verify alignment, weld or bolt parts, and work in varying weather under safety rules; endurance for long hours and heavy lifting is required. The role requires safe use of hand and power tools and clear communication with supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant field experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Fabricates metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting; signals hoisting equipment to lift and position structural steel members.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Moves structural steel members into approximate positions for bolting into place and secures them.
• Bolts aligned structural-steel members for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
