Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Principal Firmware Engineer - IoT to lead design, implementation, and testing of embedded wireless systems. You will collaborate with hardware, mechanical, product development and reliability teams to drive new IoT features for next-generation power tools.

You will mentor engineers, establish firmware best practices, and guide test strategy with automation. Occasional travel is expected as part of cross-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in a design-related firmware role.
• Strong knowledge of wireless protocols (BLE, Cellular, Wi‑Fi, Zigbee, LoRa).
• Experience in C++ RTOS for microcontrollers and embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded firmware for IoT wireless systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, product, and reliability teams to shape features.
• Mentor firmware engineers and promote best practices (unit tests, RTOS).
• Develop test strategies and automate firmware validation.
• Evaluate components with suppliers for current and future projects.
• Communicate project risks and milestones to leadership.
