Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking an Engineering Manager, Embedded Firmware & Electrical (IoT Connectivity) to lead a team of firmware, electrical, and connectivity engineers at our Brookfield headquarters. You will own device connectivity architecture and guide architecture, requirements, and design decisions across hardware, firmware, and cloud interfaces.

The role focuses on end-to-end IoT device design, security, OTA updates, and regulatory certification, while partnering with cloud and mobile teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in electrical or computer engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 7+ years of embedded systems experience with IoT devices from concept to production.
• 3+ years of team leadership in embedded firmware/electrical engineering.
• Experience taking multiple IoT products through development, certification, and mass production.
• Expertise in C/C++ embedded programming, RTOS/Linux platforms, and secure boot/OTA.
• Deep knowledge of wireless stacks (BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular) and RF fundamentals.
• Experience with device-to-cloud architectures, MQTT/CoAP, TLS, and APIs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and hardware-in-the-loop processes.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a world-class team of embedded firmware and electrical engineers for connected products.
• Own connectivity architecture across BLE, Wi‑Fi, cellular, and other wireless protocols.
• Design end-to-end IoT devices from concept to production and field support.
• Define firmware strategy including RTOS/Linux, bootloaders, OTA, provisioning, and fleet management.
• Drive device security, regulatory certification, and compliance practices.
• Collaborate with cloud/mobile teams to define device-to-cloud protocols and diagnostics.
• Manage RF/wireless performance, antenna design, and power management in harsh environments.
• Develop robust product roadmaps, resource plans, and project metrics.
• Mentor team on best practices in firmware, circuit design, testing, and CI/CD.
