About the role

EMS is seeking an experienced Lead Installation Technician to oversee the deployment of SIMULATIONiQ audiovisual, information technology, and medical simulation solutions at customer locations.

As the on-site technical leader, you will direct the day-to-day work of EMS technicians and subcontracted installation teams. You will be responsible for establishing daily priorities, coordinating work across multiple trades, monitoring progress, enforcing EMS installation and safety standards, and ensuring the project remains aligned with its schedule and scope.

This is a hands‑on leadership position that combines technical expertise, subcontractor management, project coordination, and customer engagement. The ideal candidate can confidently lead a diverse field team, hold subcontractors accountable for quality and productivity, resolve technical and logistical challenges, and represent EMS professionally at the customer site.

What you'll do

  • Lead the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of audiovisual, IT, and simulation technology solutions at customer locations.
  • Step in and perform hands‑on installation work alongside technicians and subcontractors when project conditions, staffing needs, or schedules require additional support.
  • Direct and coordinate the daily activities of EMS technicians, subcontractors, and other on‑site trades.
  • Review project scope, drawings, schedules, and installation requirements with subcontracted teams before work begins.
  • Establish daily work plans, assign responsibilities, monitor productivity, and adjust priorities to keep projects on schedule.
  • Verify that subcontractors arrive with the required personnel, tools, materials, qualifications, and understanding of the assigned scope.
  • Inspect subcontractor work for compliance with EMS installation standards, project documentation, safety requirements, and accepted industry practices.
  • Document and address workmanship concerns, incomplete work, staffing issues, scope discrepancies, and schedule risks.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for completing corrective work and meeting project expectations.
  • Serve as EMS's primary on‑site representative, maintaining professional communication with customers, contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor installation technicians by providing clear expectations, technical guidance, and constructive feedback.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, Client Support, and customer IT teams to resolve issues and meet project requirements.
  • Identify and elevate scope changes, equipment shortages, design conflicts, site‑readiness concerns, and other risks that may affect project delivery.
  • Troubleshoot audiovisual systems, networking infrastructure, control systems, audio DSPs, and other integrated technologies.
  • Oversee equipment inventory, serial‑number tracking, shipping and receiving, staging, discrepancies, and RMA activities at the project site.
  • Conduct installation quality reviews, system testing, commissioning, and client acceptance activities.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, redlines, test results, punch lists, progress updates, and project closeout documentation.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring installation challenges and recommending improvements to EMS processes and standards.
  • Travel throughout the United States and internationally as required.
