Job description

Ready to take the next step in your career?

Join a full-service low-voltage systems integrator delivering converged audio and video, networked communications, and security solutions to clients around the world across education, sports, entertainment, construction, healthcare, and manufacturing. Specialist network engineers, audio/visual experts, and certified technicians work together to build reliable, rock-solid systems that grow as customers grow.

A newly created opportunity exists for a Lead AV Installation Technician/Foreman to install commercial audiovisual systems and direct a crew of two to six technicians on large projects. The ideal candidate will bring proven foreman or lead technician experience, plan daily activities with the Project Manager, coordinate with general contractors and other trade partners, and maintain installation quality and safety with limited direct supervision.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and work alongside a crew of two to six technicians; assign tasks based on skill level, explain installation requirements, verify completed work, and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Review contract scope, plans, specifications, approved submittals, cable schedules, rack elevations, and installation details before starting work. Identify conflicts or missing information and obtain direction from the Project Manager.
  • Plan daily work and upcoming activities around project milestones, available labor, material readiness, site access, and work by other trades. Communicate staffing, tool, lift, and material needs in advance.
  • Coordinate pathways, rough-in, backing, device locations, ceiling access, power, and network readiness with general contractors, electricians, structured cabling teams, ceiling contractors, and other trade partners.
  • Attend field coordination meetings as assigned and communicate installation dependencies, schedule conflicts, and site conditions that could affect completion.
  • Perform and oversee cable installation, termination, labeling, rack assembly, equipment mounting, and device installation. Verify cable support, bend radius, separation, grounding and bonding, and firestop requirements against approved documents and applicable requirements.
  • Inspect workmanship throughout installation; verify equipment locations, connections, labeling, and physical completeness before testing or commissioning. Resolve deficiencies and manage assigned punch list work.
  • Track crew hours, installed quantities, progress, and obstacles; submit accurate daily reports and communicate productivity concerns, delays, rework, and potential added costs to the Project Manager.
  • Identify work outside the approved scope and document field conditions. Obtain Project Manager direction before performing additional work or committing TSI to scope, cost, or schedule changes.
  • Lead safe work practices, maintain orderly work areas, and verify crew members are trained and authorized for assigned tools, lifts, and tasks. Report hazards and incidents promptly.
  • Protect and account for project equipment, hardware, materials, and tools. Coordinate deliveries and storage, maintain inventory, and report shortages or damage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Must have:
  • Five or more years of commercial AV installation or closely related low-voltage experience, including at least two years as a foreman or lead technician directing field crews.
  • Demonstrated experience leading crews of two to six people on large commercial construction projects involving multiple trades, phased installation, and coordinated schedules.
  • Ability to independently interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, system diagrams, cable schedules, and project schedules and translate them into practical field work assignments.
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of commercial installation practices, including cable routing and support, terminations, labeling, rack layout, equipment mounting, and installation sequencing from rough‑in through closeout.
  • Experience installing displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, AV control devices, conferencing systems, and digital video switching and distribution equipment.
  • Ability to trace signal paths, use installation test equipment, troubleshoot cabling and device connections, and distinguish installation issues from programming or network issues.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking as it relates to AV systems, including addressing, switch connectivity, and coordination with IT personnel.
  • Ability to support system testing and commissioning with engineering and programming staff; maintain field redlines, test records, and information needed for as‑built documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, and electronic drawings or field reporting tools. Familiarity with Webex, Zoom, and other conferencing platforms.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with crew members, project managers, customers, and trade partners; ability to address field issues professionally and elevate unresolved concerns.
