Job summary

Summit Polymers is seeking an Engineer, Tooling, Injection Molds to lead the tooling development lifecycle from design through validation. You will coordinate design reviews, ensure on-time project milestones, and work with internal and external teams to diagnose tooling issues.

The role requires five years of tool-making or tool-design experience, strong problem-solving skills, and travel up to 15% to supplier sites or project locations. Exempt, full-time position in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Five years experience as a Tool Maker, Tool Designer, or Tool Repair technician.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently with little to no supervision.
• Awareness of PPS, 8-D, and A3 problem solving methods.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and leads design reviews, approves manufacture readiness to meet project schedules.
• Ensures documentation per KBPD, TENG, and procedures is completed on time.
• Maintains robust tool function for easy setup and maintenance.
• Leads functional samples with the TEP and ensures tool readiness.
• Delivers post-kickoff, post-design review, and post-sample event supplier wrap-up meetings.
