Job summary

Transamerica is seeking a senior tax professional to oversee indirect tax compliance and related accounting. You will manage staff, perform complex tax analysis, and drive improvements in tax reporting and controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education/experience.
• Eight years of tax accounting experience.
• In-depth knowledge of assigned tax specialty.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
• Advanced computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Extract financial data from various tax, accounting, and information systems to perform analyses.
• Review indirect tax returns and tax accounting, including state insurance premium tax, use tax, franchise tax, and federal excise tax.
• Draft and/or review technical memos and outlines.
• Develop non-standard reports and statements.
• Lead assigned projects including integration of new tax laws and accounting principles.
• Research complicated tax law and accounting principles.
• Monitor tax law to ensure data integrity.
• Perform special analysis and projects as requested.
• Offer leadership and direction to others.
• Assist in evaluation of processes for operational efficiencies and risk management.
• Utilize a thorough understanding of the business to proactively develop tax analysis and reports.
• Work effectively with other departments/divisions to ensure business issues are resolved for the success of the company.
