Job summary

Town of Arlington seeks a Lead Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician to maintain and repair HVACR systems across school and town buildings. The role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical components, working under Building Automation Manager, and supervising one FTE plus contractors.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 5 years of HVAC experience, EPA licenses, and MA driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma, 3+ years minimum, 5 years preferred, HVAC trade experience or equivalent combination.
Experience with Johnson Controls is a plus.
Valid Massachusetts Driver's License (Class D) and EPA license requirements.

Responsibilities

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance of HVAC, energy-conservation equipment, and refrigeration systems; assists with new installations.
Ensure safe operation and performance of HVAC systems across buildings; troubleshoot problems.
Comply with codes and safety regulations; keep licenses current.
Prepare cost estimates for materials and labor for HVAC projects.
Work with Direct Digital Control and Energy Management System; adjust actuators and thermostats.
Inspect and repair exhaust systems, motors, belts; maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
Assist in developing and updating preventive maintenance plans; use CMMS for work orders and reporting.
