Job summary

Lexington Public Schools seeks a Master HVAC / Refrigeration Contractor – Lead Technician to maintain and repair town and school facilities. You will lead the apprentice program, design and install HVAC/refrigeration systems, and coordinate contractors while ensuring safety, code compliance and timely maintenance.

The role requires a MA Master HVAC license, 8 years of HVAC experience, a valid driver’s license and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Five (8) years of experience in the HVAC trade.
  • Possess a current Massachusetts Masters HVAC / Refrigeration Contractor License.
  • Employment is contingent upon CORI, SORI, SAFIS finger printing and a pre-placement medical exam with drug screening.
  • Thorough knowledge of codes pertaining to HVAC maintenance and installation.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing HVAC and Refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with HVAC circuits, thermostats, relays, motors, control boards, and fabrication.
  • Piping (copper, brazing, soldering) and ductwork installation.
  • Reading wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of skilled HVAC tasks with hand or power tools.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use email and internet programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency repairs to town buildings and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain security and safety of buildings and systems.
  • Communicate progress to supervisor and keep areas clean.
  • Lead and train apprentices; manage the Apprenticeship Program.
  • Design refrigeration and HVAC systems for commercial/industrial buildings.
  • Coordinate contractors and manage projects.
  • Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure code compliance and permitting.
  • Provide estimates for materials and work orders.
