Job description

Lead HVAC Technician - Alpharetta, GA

Salary: $25-$35 DOE

The Lead Technician performs skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The Lead Technician provides exceptional customer service and educates customers on technical and investment decisions by offering multiple options and solutions during service calls in customers’ homes. Additionally, the Lead Technician will support newer technicians with troubleshooting calls and ride-alongs.

A Varsity Zone technician is expected to perform the following tasks while servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or installing HVAC systems and related components:

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Serves clients by expertly servicing, repairing, and maintaining heating and air conditioning systems.
  2. Services, repairs, and proposes replacement of gas furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, electric furnaces, packaged terminal units, ductless split systems, humidification and dehumidification equipment, electronic air cleaners, air purification systems, residential control systems including Evolution and zoning systems.
  3. Troubleshoots, adapts, and resolves all issues to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  4. Tests systems after service/repair to confirm proper functioning.
  5. Inspects customer systems to prevent future issues.
  6. Explains services and repairs to customers.
  7. Assists customers in making purchasing decisions through detailed education and cost/benefit analysis.
  8. Accurately documents system details, services performed, customer discussions, and costs.

Other duties include debriefing with dispatch, submitting receipts and invoices, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the vehicle, and upholding professional standards and safety policies.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience as a Service Technician in residential HVAC maintenance and repair, with installation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal HVAC codes.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
  • Basic electrical knowledge for low and high voltage systems.
Educational/Certification Requirements:
  • NATE Certification
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • EPA Certification 608 with Universal proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in extreme temperatures and confined spaces.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Normal or corrected vision for close, distance, and peripheral vision.

Technicians should possess essential HVAC tools, PPE, and equipment as listed, and demonstrate professionalism and adherence to safety and company standards.
