Job summary

Custom Air Products & Services, Inc. (CAPS) is seeking a Lead Sheet Metal Mechanic to plan, coordinate, and perform fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal components and HVAC systems.

This role provides field leadership and technical guidance to crew members, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to project specs. The incumbent will read blueprints, plan daily activities, fabricate and install ductwork and HVAC equipment, and supervise apprentices while maintaining

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of commercial/industrial sheet metal/HVAC installation experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Working knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork installation and sheet metal fabrication.
Ability to lead and direct crew members in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

Read, interpret, and execute work from blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and documents.
Plan daily work activities and coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to meet project schedules.
Measure, layout, fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal ductwork and related HVAC components.
Install HVAC equipment and components including coils, heaters, compressors, panels, dampers, and related systems.
Determine project requirements, assembly sequences, installation methods, and material needs based on project specs and field conditions.
Drill, punch, cut, shape, and fasten sheet metal using hand and power tools.
