Job summary

Custom Air Products & Services, Inc. CAPS, a Houston-based HVAC contractor, is seeking a Pipe Fitter to join our industrial team.

You will interpret drawings, prefabricate components, and install piping systems for commercial and process applications, with emphasis on Victaulic systems and safety. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of pipe fitting experience, reads blueprints, and can work independently or with a crew to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, isometrics, and specifications.
• Prefabricate piping components for field installation and welding operations.
• Lay out piping systems and coordinate installation activities with project managers, supervisors, and other trades.
• Select appropriate pipe sizes, materials, fittings, supports, hangers, and associated hardware.
• Measure, cut, groove, thread, bevel, and prepare pipe using hand tools, power tools, grooving machines, and cutting torches.
• Install piping systems for chilled water, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial process applications.
• Assemble and secure pipes, valves, supports, brackets, and fixtures according to project specifications.
• Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic piping systems and related equipment as required.
• Perform system modifications, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
• Identify and resolve issues such as leaks, obstructions, damaged components, or system deficiencies.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for company tools and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers as needed.

We are currently seeking a Pipe Fitterto add to our growing team.

Position Summary & Objective

The Pipe Fitter is responsible for the layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems used in commercial and industrial HVAC and process applications. This role requires the ability to interpret drawings and specifications, accurately measure and prepare materials, and install piping systems in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations. Experience with Victaulic piping systems is required.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of pipe fitting experience; vessel fitting experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated experience with Victaulic piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and piping specifications.
• Working knowledge of commercial and industrial piping installation practices.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, grooving equipment, and cutting torches.
• Strong mathematical and measuring skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

• Operation of saws, grooving machines, cutting torches, and precision measuring tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial or industrial HVAC piping systems.
• Rigging, hoisting, or welding knowledge.
• OSHA safety training or related certifications.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and from aerial lifts when required.
• Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
• Commercial and industrial construction job sites.
• Exposure to noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and construction-related hazards.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
