Job summary

theWit Hotel in Chicago, IL is seeking a polished Lead Host to join the front-of-house team. Expect greet-and-seat responsibilities, reservations coordination, and VIP guest recognition in a fast-paced, upscale setting.

Role requires strong communication, excellent guest service, and the ability to guide a host stand while coordinating with servers, management, and Sales. Evening and weekend availability is required; benefits and growth opportunities provided.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in hotel, restaurant, nightlife venue, or related guest-service environment preferred.
• Previous experience as a Host, Lead Host, Server, or in a comparable customer-service role preferred.
• Experience coordinating a host stand, reservations, guest flow, or small team in high-volume or upscale environment preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of English and ability to communicate clearly with guests and employees.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests, creating a polished first impression.
• Coordinate host-stand activities and provide direction to Hosts.
• Manage reservations, waitlist, table status, and seating rotation for timely seating.
• Prepare and adjust daily floor plan based on reservations and events.
• Review inquiries and route to management as needed.
• Provide guests with accurate wait times and keep them informed.
• Identify VIPs and relevant visit history to assist the service team.
• Explain cover charges, policies, and menus accurately; escalate when needed.
• Maintain clean, welcoming areas and coordinate with other departments for seamless service.
