Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a working supervisor to plan, coordinate and oversee maintenance crews for driveways, drainage structures and pipes within the right-of-way. You will create safe work zones, train staff on heavy equipment and coordinate with law enforcement when traffic control is needed.

The position requires 3.5 years of related experience or an equivalent, plus a valid license and CDL within 6 months.

Qualifications

• 3.5 years of related work experience or an approved equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Physical ability to bend, lift up to 50 lbs and work outside in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and supervises maintenance workers in installation and repair of driveways, drainage structures and pipes.
• Ensures a safe work zone for maintenance crew, including flagging and proper safety equipment.
• Inputs work accomplishments and employee hours in HMMS.
• Trains personnel in operation and maintenance of heavy equipment and proper construction practices.
